Job Description
We have an urgent requirement for a Linked Open Data Technical Architect on an initial 6 month FTC. The role is a rolling fixed term contract which could run until August 2029. This role is hybrid working with at least 1 day a week onsite in York.
Role Specific Responsibilities
- To design to design and develop a knowledge graph for archaeology and heritage and conservation science.
- To design and deploy knowledge graph pipeline software.
- To install and maintain a Graph database to underpin and international heritage and heritage science data portals.
- Collaborate with the development team to design, develop, and maintain knowledge graph databases for intelligence analysis purposes.
- Develop data models and ontologies to represent entities, relationships, and attributes within the knowledge graph.
- Optimise query performance and implement indexing strategies to enhance database retrieval and analysis capabilities.
- To act as Technical lead for Linked Open Data projects and liaise with external partners to ensure the project(s) is completed to quality & timescales.
Essential Skills
- Strong working knowledge of Semantic Web technologies (RDF/s, OWL), query (SPARQL) and validation/reasoning approaches and standards
- Software architectures (microservices vs monoliths etc.)
- Modern web application development
- Supporting high availability IT systems
- Design and operation of IT systems in relation to GDPR
- Solid knowledge of HTTP and APIs
Essential Experience
- Implementation and management of a Graph database
- Installing and maintaining a search and analytics engine (Elasticsearch/OpenSearch)
- Developing SPARQL and API queries
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems as well as software development and deployment tools, eg, Docker, Git
- Experience working with taxonomies, ontologies, and controlled vocabularies
- Competency in programming such as JavaScript, Ruby, PHP, Python or Java
