Job Title: Litigation & Contentious Regulatory Senior Lawyer

This is an exciting opportunity to join us as a conscientious and proactive Senior Lawyer in the LCR team, part of the wider L&S division. The LCR lawyers perform a mix of litigation and contentious regulatory work, leading and supervising colleagues while managing a caseload of important and high-profile matters. You will advise senior stakeholders on strategic decisions and contribute to the leadership of the LCR team. You will work closely with business and operations colleagues to provide pro-active, pragmatic, and commercially aware advice. You will collaborate with others within the LCR team and the broader L&S division. This role provides an outstanding opportunity for ongoing personal and professional development.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver litigation and contentious regulatory support for projects and cases.
  • Lead and support more junior colleagues with caseloads, including strategic case management, briefing, influencing senior stakeholders, and managing external panel law firms.
  • Identify and resolve legal risks for business areas.
  • Act as senior legal representative in business/divisional projects, supporting other team members and non-contentious legal colleagues.
  • Identify and develop protocols to improve the efficiency of litigation and regulatory management.

What You Need

We require a legally qualified candidate (England & Wales, Scotland, or equivalent qualification) with a current practising certificate and substantial post-qualification experience. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong understanding of dispute resolution with prior experience as a litigator in a law firm and/or in-house, preferably in banking and financial services.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership potential and a solid understanding of legal, technical, and procedural factors affecting contentious matters.
  • Clear communication of ideas, risks, and strategies, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to build trusting, collaborative relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
