Join to apply for the Locum Consultant in Public Health role at NHS Scotland.

Post: Fixed Term, full time 40 hours per week based in West Port, Edinburgh. Hybrid working is available with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.

Responsibilities

To provide consultant level leadership for the public health agenda across Lothian as part of a department that delivers a comprehensive public health function including health improvement and health inequalities, health protection, health services and health intelligence. The post holder will:

  • Develop and interpret national, regional and local policies.
  • Lead and direct the development of inter-agency health strategies, plans and programmes that aim to improve population health and reduce health inequalities.
  • Contribute key public health competencies to health service plans, policies and strategies.
  • Provide Consultant level expert leadership for Healthcare Public Health and work with partners in the health and care system to maximise population benefits, including translating evidence into service design and planning, considering equity of access and identifying effective preventative interventions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across public, third and independent sectors to inform and implement services and strategies.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience at Consultant level in Healthcare Public Health or Public Health Medicine/Consultant in Public Health.
  • Ability to work with a range of partners to translate evidence into service design and planning.

Location and Arrangements

Department: Public Health and Health Policy, Westport 102, West Port, Edinburgh, EH3 9DN. The post is suitable for hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office. Some work may be required at NHS Lothian sites.
