Working pattern: Full Time | Permanent | Flexible First options available.We are looking for a Maintenance Engineering Manager to join our busy team. You will be responsible for delivering the maintenance programme for distribution network substation assets from LV to 33kV in the north of Ridgeway, working on behalf of the Maintenance and Inspection team. You will manage a fitting team, ensure safety, support development, and drive productivity and quality in daily maintenance and inspection tasks.You will be accountable for monthly delivery forecasts to meet annual targets and support asset health projects, including managing multiple maintenance jobs and providing insights to guide asset lifecycle decisions. We are looking for someone who leads by example, develops the team, and maintains a safety‑first culture with open, honest, and positive communication at all levels.You WillDay-to-day management of field based electrical fitters.Planning and delivering primary and substation maintenance work on equipment at voltages up to 11kV, and collaborating with another manager to deliver 33kV maintenance.Managing an annual plan of works to ensure outputs are delivered within agreed budgets.Authorising timesheets and exercising financial accountability for outputs; ensuring the team has tools and equipment to complete tasks safely.Liaising with Control and other delivery teams to plan network outages that optimise outcomes for customers and the business.You HaveExperience of working on and operating electrical networks up to 33kV. 33kV Senior Authorised Person authorisations (or working towards) would be advantageous but not essential.Excellent people leadership skills, with experience in change management and leading high-volume output projects.Proficient IT and data analytics skills to ensure accurate and timely reporting through systems such as Maximo, ElectricOffice, Excel and PowerOn.A strong health and safety mindset aligned with SSE values and experience of integrating these within an operational environment.Enthusiasm, drive, flexibility, and adaptability to changing environments.About SSESSE has a bold ambition – to be a leading energy company in a net zero world.
