Our client is based in Croydon and supports their customers in these sectors for the UK and Ireland markets. They develop new build solutions with OEMs and offer full aftermarket support including spare parts supply and repair/overhaul services at their local workshop or at the customer location via a skilled workshop and field service workforce.

About The Role

Our client is recruiting for a Field Service Engineer - Marine, on a permanent full-time contract. This is a field-based position with regular travel away from home, including weekends and occasionally extended periods away depending on scheduled work. The role is based remotely with visits to client sites as required.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Provide support for our client products as part of the Global Marine Field Service team.
  • Support sales teams in the Marine department where appropriate.
  • Conduct diagnostics and repairs at customer or third-party premises.
  • Conduct major unit overhauls at customer or third-party premises.
  • Travel and work internationally as a resource of the Global Marine Field Service team.
  • Assist sales staff on technical aspects of our Marine products.
  • Consult with Health & Safety and Service Manager on day-to-day issues at various premises.
  • Ensure all tooling and equipment are within calibration dates.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with customers and their representatives.
  • Identify and report future business opportunities.
  • Interface with Marine Sales and commercial departments to share field service opportunities and grow the business.
  • Work with the customer to minimise downtime.
  • Complete stock counts in line with company plan.
  • Willingness to travel and be away from home as required.
  • Undertake work within client workshop facilities as required.
  • Complete paperwork and reports and submit promptly.
  • Train and support colleagues with product knowledge where possible.
  • Work unsociable hours when required to meet customer needs.
  • Report any potential quality-related issues noted during the work assignment.
  • Ensure all training within PEP and Atlas portals is completed in a timely manner.
  • Always represent our client in a positive and professional manner.
  • Maintain excellent technical communication with internal and external customers.

Key Competencies

  • Background in service and engineering.
  • Marine engineering background (Royal Navy, Merchant Navy, Ships Crew, Drydocks, etc.).
  • Electrical & Mechanical experience.
  • HV experience (electrical motors & inverters).
  • Electronic control systems.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Hold a valid driving licence.

Package Details

  • Permanent Contract
  • 41 hour working week
  • £50k–£75k (dependent on experience)
