We are looking for a Market Access Partner to join the Infectious Disease Strategic Programme (IDSP).
IDSP is a multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering Wellcome’s strategy to address the global health challenge of infectious disease. Our ambitious goal is to accelerate the discovery and development of new drugs, vaccines and interventions through to transforming the lives of people suffering from or at risk of infectious disease. We do this by funding research, product development and policy initiatives and focus on: Vector and Water borne Infections, TB, AMR, and Neglected Tropical Diseases.
This is a new role and an exciting opportunity to shape access and implementation plans across a diverse portfolio of products, to ensure IDSP can deliver impact in communities with the highest burden of infectious disease.
What will I be doing?
As a Market Access Partner, you will play a critical role in ensuring that groundbreaking health products, such as new vaccines and therapeutics developed within our Infectious Disease programme, can successfully reach the people who need them most. You will develop and deliver robust Market Access strategies for products under development, providing technical leadership and collaborating with both internal teams and external stakeholders to align financing, manufacturing, supply, uptake and policy pathways for impactful product implementation. By integrating market access and implementation planning across the entire lifecycle of product development, you will help ensure Wellcome’s investments translate into real-world impact.
You will contribute to shaping the vision and practice of Market Access within the programme, working across functions to embed access-oriented thinking from ideation through launch to uptake and implementation. You will also help build internal processes, contribute to technical negotiations, and develop strategic partnerships that support sustainable implementation and uptake of infectious disease solutions in the most affected communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Market Access Strategy: Act as the internal subject matter expert on Market Access, guiding the Infectious Disease Solutions team and advising on access-related risks, opportunities, and solutions across the portfolio.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams across Innovation and Access, Policy and Partnerships, and Legal to align strategies and processes, and ensure cohesive planning for product uptake, delivery and adoption.
Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate with external partners, including funders, manufacturers, and implementers, to shape sustainable pathways for financing, supply, launch, and scale-up of priority interventions.
Lifecycle Integration: Embed Market Access considerations throughout all stages of product and programme development—from inception to implementation—ensuring Wellcome’s solutions are designed for real-world impact.
Data-driven Implementation: Ensure Market Access plans are evidence-based, monitored effectively, and accessible for analysis and decision-making by relevant stakeholders.
External Leadership & Advisory: Lead technical discussions and negotiations with external partners and help shape broader market ecosystems by identifying gaps and facilitating expert engagement.

Minimum criteria:
Proven significant experience and knowledge of Market Access, particularly around the broad technical challenges to delivering products for global health.
Good understanding and experience of the needs, constraints and sensitivities of private sector partners
Experience of forming and sustaining a strong external network, including by designing and hosting external convening where appropriate.
Experience of being accountable for identifying and devising approaches to inform decision making on Market Access for particular products/interventions.
Experience of taking a leading role in product specific technical matters in negotiations with external partners.
