Marketing Director – Marketing Communications

This role will oversee all aspects of marketing for Haymarket’s Marketing Communications paid‑content portfolio and Business Media’s events products. Your primary objective is to achieve annual revenue and profit targets sustainably by leading and developing marketing teams, ensuring their output meets specific commercial targets through world‑class marketing. You will demonstrate expertise in growing and developing B2B corporate licence‑first subscriptions.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve, as a minimum, Marketing Communications and Business Media’s events annual marketing‑driven revenue budgets.
  • Develop an annual Marketing Plan for the license‑first paid‑content business and live‑event operations, including objectives, strategy, KPIs and deliverables.
  • Manage the creation and revision of annual paid‑content budgets and forecasts, and serve as the single point of contact between finance and the Managing Director on paid‑content revenue and promotional budgets.
  • Work closely with the Marcoms paid‑content Commercial Director and sales team to grow corporate licence‑based revenues, providing high‑quality, measurable sales‑ready leads.
  • Ensure the marketing strategy for each brand supports the overall commercial objectives, driving paid‑content revenue growth and YOY increases in live‑event volumes.
  • Oversee, advise on, and evaluate tactical marketing activity across all brands, ensuring effective promotion and ROI.
  • Analyse key marketing performance metrics using tracking tools, providing market research, forecasts, competitive analyses and campaign results.
  • Build a content marketing strategy across all brands that supports paid‑content and live‑event revenue strategies.
  • Lead the development of data‑driven marketing strategies, partnering with Marketing Operations to deliver lead generation, nurturing and scoring programmes.
  • Identify new revenue opportunities and provide actionable, data‑informed plans to the wider team.
  • Serve as the senior marketing voice for Marketing Communications’ brand portfolio, championing marketing growth and impact within the business.
  • Manage the resources for paid‑content and live‑event marketing teams, focusing on skills, expertise and experience.
  • Promote a culture of high performance with a focus on meeting annual marketing KPIs such as paid subscriber engagement, prospect engagement and licence yields (Golden KPIs).
  • Develop your team through regular feedback, coaching and training, and proactively address performance concerns.

Key Skills Required

  • Strategic and commercial marketing experience in a high‑value B2B media environment with strong business acumen.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering corporate licence‑based paid‑content revenue growth and YOY increases in live‑event revenues across all B2B formats.
  • Strategic understanding of key drivers, with the ability to adjust plans to external factors.
  • Innovative thinking and the ability to manage rapid change as we reshape ways of working.
  • Expertise across all tactical marketing elements, with a deep understanding of results across multiple channels, particularly digital marketing techniques.
  • Experience of optimising and modelling data to support marketing activity effectively.
  • Strong leadership skills, capable of supporting a diverse team responsible for multiple brands on limited budgets.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, able to manage stakeholders in a matrixed environment.
  • Creative problem‑solving and innovative solutions with a clear understanding of best practice.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels, especially senior level, with a respected voice.
  • Proficiency in optimising return on marketing budgets.
