Industrial Operations is where we add value to our modern luxury ethos. Whether in Procurement, sourcing vital products and services, or Supply Chain, managing Logistics Operations and Fulfilment, you will ensure seamless operations for our iconic vehicles across our global footprint while prioritising sustainable initiatives. Working with cross-functional teams, you'll be part of how we drive efficiencies and implement industry-leading practices. Help us create the exceptional.
Your main role as a Materials Forming Engineer will be to contribute to off-cycle innovation of materials for conventional cold stamping processes within GME Stamping, while also optimising supply chain efficiency and quality. You will work closely with our operations teams in Castle Bromwich, Solihull, and Halewood and other GME Stampings teams and will also support our programme delivery teams to ensure material is optimised for cost, quality, and sustainability.
What to Expect
Working closely with Design, Product Engineering, other Manufacturing Engineering technology teams, and our Manufacturing Operations, we are proud creators of modern luxury in the form of high-quality pressed parts for our Reimagined product portfolio. As part of this role, you will:
- Analyse and verify technical materials data, coordinate physical testing to confirm material applicability and stability, relevant to the JLR production environment and volumes.
- Support the delivery of the successful industrialisation and implementation of new materials including writing any new standard documentation required.
- Contribute to material supply chain optimisation, development, and performance assessments.
- Support Stamping Operations teams by answering technical queries and providing material support onsite within production facilities when required.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of material-related process standards, e.g., blanker and 'Head of Line' specifications.
- Support the timely ordering of material for Try-Out and Production Ramp-up for all new Model Programmes.
Understanding of materials, and material properties and processes specifically relating to forming technologies. A working knowledge of steel and aluminium manufacturing and press shop facilities (e.g., blast furnaces, cast houses, rolling mills, heat treatment lines, cut-to-length and blanking lines, destackers, re-rollers, presses, etc.). An ability to analyse and assess large amounts of data. Relevant previous experience in material quality assurance, new technology introduction, or similar. Proven ability in delivering tasks and/or projects within tight timescales. A track record of working collaboratively cross-functionally, influencing stakeholders, and communicating complex technical detail that can be understood by non-expert audiences.
This role is rewarding in more ways than one. On top of our core offering, you'll do extraordinary work with amazing people. In addition, you can expect a wide range of benefits:
- Discounted car purchase (open to family members, too).
- A 52-week maternity leave policy and a 4-week paternity leave policy. Other parental leave policies are available.
- A competitive pension.
- A JLR company performance-related bonus.
- An employee learning scheme providing funding for education, training, and other activities supporting personal skills development and lifelong learning.
- Access to open, employee-led support and social networks.
- Comprehensive Life Assurance and Income Protection policies.
- Flexible working options depending on responsibilities. Please speak to the hiring team for details.
Creating Modern Luxury requires a modern approach to work. At JLR, hybrid working is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement providing employees more choice and flexibility around how, when, and where they work. Some roles require more on-site work, but details can be discussed during the interview. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming culture and can accommodate reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process. Please discuss your needs with your recruiter.
