Overview

Mechanical Engineer - Pressure Systems - ROI is a home-based opportunity for an experienced engineer with knowledge of the Pressure Mechanical discipline to join Allianz Engineering, a division of a leading insurer and financial services company. As an Engineer Surveyor, you will assess a wide range of installations in Ireland, anticipate client needs, ensure compliance with relevant legislation, and prepare inspection reports using electronic reporting for fast delivery to clients. You will work with your Engineer Surveyor Team under a Senior Operations Team Leader.

This role involves hands-on inspections of plant and equipment such as air receivers, pressure vessels, multi-tubular steam boilers, heat exchangers, and associated safety devices. The role can be physically demanding and may require working at height, in confined spaces, lifting, and working in hot and cold conditions. You will adapt to various work environments as required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of pressure-related plant and equipment in accordance with relevant standards and regulations.
• Prepare examination reports using electronic reporting for timely delivery to clients.
• Assess installations to ensure compliance with legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with the Engineer Surveyor Team and Senior Operations Team Leader to coordinate inspections and priorities.

Qualifications and Essential Skills

• Up to date knowledge of compliance and regulatory rules related to the Pressure Mechanical discipline.
• Ability to make well-informed decisions and take responsibility.
• Strong planning skills for short, medium, and long-term activities; ability to diarise meetings, visits, and work allocation.
• Ability to travel effectively within the allocated work area.
• Experience in processing documentation and performing general administration in a timely manner.
• Willingness to support and deputise for fellow Engineer Surveyors as required.
• Minimum qualification in Mechanical Engineering at level 4 (UK) or level 6 (Ireland) or equivalent (HND/HNC/Full Technological Certificate).
• Experience with steam generation, compressed air, and related plant; ideally with manufacturing (QA/production), maintenance, operation, repair, and site inspection experience.
• Strong customer interaction skills, including both oral and written communication.
• Full valid Irish/EU/UK driving licence.
• Time management skills to independently organise weekly work.
• Comfort with using tablets and smartphones as part of daily work.

Desirable Skills

• Incorporated Engineer (desirable).
