Overview

The Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) role is vital to the effective running of flood risk pumping stations, water control structures and the wider business. You will join a MEICA team to prioritise, plan and deliver the maintenance or replacement of assets enabling flood protection to homes, businesses and the environment. You will work closely with external contractors to develop a world-class asset management organisation and provide strong technical leadership to assure MEICA technical, safety, legal, environmental and operational requirements across diverse assets.

Team and role context

You will join our South East MEICA Team of mixed disciplines, report to the MEICA Team Leader, act as technical leader on MEICA activity, participate in responses to flood incidents, provide technical mechanical support to team members and liaise with business partners on behalf of the MEICA Team Leader and Operations Managers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strong technical leadership to MEICA activity and ensure compliance with technical, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Prioritise, plan and deliver maintenance or replacement of MEICA assets across designated sites.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and internal stakeholders; support incident response as required.
  • Liaise with a wide range of business partners and lead on actions on behalf of the MEICA Team Leader and Operations Managers.

Experience and qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering-related statutory legislation, and British and European standards.
  • Experience in leading safety investigations and disseminating learning to drive improvements in engineering and behavioural safety.
  • Knowledge and experience of Root Cause Analysis, reliability engineering, process improvement, technical leadership, and writing/reviewing technical specifications.
  • Educated to a minimum of HNC/D or degree level in an appropriate mechanical discipline.
  • Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
  • Role-specific professional membership: I-Eng or C-Eng preferred but not essential.

Other requirements

  • Role may require working across various locations; occasional hybrid homeworking and site visits apply.
  • Interviews may be conducted face-to-face or via video under certain circumstances.
  • All staff undertake onboarding training and participate in incident response duties as part of the role.
