Job Title: Methods Development Engineer - Submarines

Type: Full Time

Rolls-Royce has an excellent opportunity for a Methods Development Engineer to join our Submarines Business in Derby. As a methods development engineer, you will actively develop methods to increase the availability and safety of components in-service. This involves leading the entire development lifecycle, which includes:

1. Preliminary literature reviews to generate hypotheses
2. Physical testing to provide validation
3. Reporting and obtaining regulatory approval
4. Implementation of the developed methods as quality assured software

The component methods team comprises engineering and software developers from diverse backgrounds working within an agile framework to generate innovative software and methods solutions for challenging problems. Ideal candidate profile: At Rolls-Royce, we value agility, boldness, collaboration, and simplicity. Essential skills and experience include:

• Software development, preferably in Python
• Structural integrity analysis
• Material modelling of polycrystalline materials
• Thermal hydraulic analysis
• Distilling literature into usable engineering methods
• Probabilistic methods
• Statistical analysis

Desirable experience: DevOps, industrial codes such as R6 and ASME III, Finite Element Analysis.
