Role: Microsoft Consultant

Location: National but commutable to an SCC Site (SCC operate hybrid working, which comprises of a mix of office and home working)

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary Package: £55,000 - £75,000 plus large company benefits, a broad flexible benefits scheme, and 2 paid-for volunteering days a year

Hours: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm Monday – Friday

Role purpose

The Microsoft Licensing Specialist will support & engage around Microsoft Enterprise customers by providing licensing expertise, and true-up support for both new and existing clients. Working with Microsoft operations team, to enable efficient quoting & BOMs, this role is pivotal in advising internal teams on licensing, pricing, amendments, and concessions, while collaborating with customers to address licensing needs and identify service opportunities.

Key responsibilities

  • Client Workshops and Presentations: Conduct regular workshops and engaging presentations for our clients, helping them understand the intricacies of Microsoft solutions.
  • Pre-Sales Support: Collaborate with our Solutions Sales team as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing insights and technical guidance during pre-sales activities.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Dive into complex data sets, analyse trends, and create actionable reports that drive informed decision-making
  • Strategic Consulting & Advice: Offer strategic recommendations to align customer roadmaps with Microsoft’s technology and license stack. Translate licensing options and financial impacts, empowering organizations to negotiate effectively.
  • Customer Support: Provide exceptional support to our clients, addressing their queries and ensuring their satisfaction.
  • Operational Excellence. Provide extensive knowledge of Microsoft agreement, platforms and operational processes

Skills and experience

Essential Experience

  • Relevant hands-on experience with Microsoft software licensing (SAM-based or sales equivalent).
  • Solid business acumen with the ability to translate technical requirements into business terms.
  • In-depth and strategic understanding of Microsoft Licensing programs, tools (Explore.ms, poet – partner self-service), and platforms.
  • Understanding of operations processes for transacting Microsoft Volume Licensing.

Preferred Experience

  • Deep understanding of the Microsoft purchasing motions.
  • Experience in the preparation of Microsoft Agreements and Enrolments.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert regarding Microsoft Licensing and Product Use Rights.
  • Evidence of following the Microsoft T-36 framework during the customer's agreement lifecycle.
  • Uncovering opportunities within the customer base that align with the company's GTM strategy.
  • Experience of close collaboration with Account Managers, Solution Specialists, and other cross-functional departments.
  • Attendance at internal/external customer calls and co-presenting with the sales team as a subject matter expert.
  • Collaborating with sales on developing and maintaining an active customer account plan.
  • Providing issue resolution and escalation management.
  • Supporting enablement for customers on Microsoft products, licensing changes, and value-added services.
  • Supporting customer setup and onboarding with SCC and Microsoft.
