NCEA Land Access Database Technical Lead – 31738

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in delivering an operationally vital part of the Environment Agency’s Natural Capital and Ecosystem Assessment (NCEA) Programme. The Programme supports Defra's wider NCEA programme in building an evidence base on the state and value of the natural environment to transform environmental decision-making in England. Responsibilities

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the best possible access arrangements for our monitoring networks.
  • Maintain landowner datasets and spatial analysis for NCEA networks with strong data management and GIS skills.
  • Provide expert technical leadership through training, guidance, and optimization of data management processes.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to troubleshoot access and programme delivery challenges.
  • Be adaptable and proactive, responding effectively to evolving priorities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience of working with geospatial data, interacting with internal and external customers, and managing datasets.
  • Strong data management and GIS skills; ability to manage landowner data and perform spatial analyses for NCEA networks.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead data management projects and drive transformative change in environmental management and decision making.
  • Ability to develop networks, work on projects and programmes, and collaborate with a range of colleagues and partners.

Location, Contract and Eligibility

This is a national role with flexible working location; an EA office base location is expected. Some travel and overnight stays will be required. Length of contract: Up to 2 years.
