This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in delivering an operationally vital part of the Environment Agency’s Natural Capital and Ecosystem Assessment (NCEA) Programme — a flagship initiative shaping how we understand and manage the water environment. The Programme supports Defra's wider NCEA programme in building a groundbreaking evidence base on the state and value of our natural environment and ecosystems to transform environmental decision-making in England.
Responsibilities
- Act as a technical specialist for the Land Access Database, a new database storing landowner details for sites to monitor; provide oversight for all aspects of landowner access for monitoring networks within the programme.
- Maintain landowner data in compliance with Environment Agency and legal requirements; collaborate with operations teams to align delivery with programme goals and timelines; foster strong relationships across teams.
- Provide expert technical leadership through training, guidance, and optimisation of data management processes.
- Work independently and collaboratively to troubleshoot access and programme delivery challenges; adapt to evolving priorities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience with geospatial data, interacting with internal and external customers, and managing datasets.
- Interest in driving a data management project that enables transformative change in environmental management and decision-making.
- Ability to develop networks, work on projects and programmes, and collaborate with a range of colleagues and partners.
Additional Information
- The post sits within the National Monitoring – Fish and Ecology team; national role with flexible working location and EA office base; some travel and overnight stays required.
