This is a unique role that will be key in advancing the Group’s readiness and progress towards achieving both Net Zero and ESG and its regulatory and customer requirements. Responsible for formulating both strategy and TCFD / IFRS reporting requirements, the role holder will be expected to influence senior stakeholders and ensure HTB Group achieve a sustainable and environmentally friendly future state. The role requires gravitas, relevant experience, and an ability to link ESG objectives with those of the Group and see through something through to completion.
With access to senior stakeholders, all areas of the Group and working with other functions and business lines to implement an ESG/Net Zero framework that will build over time and safeguard the future sustainability and corporate governance of the organisation. Practical application of policy and strategy will be key to the success of the role.
The role would suit somebody who has experience and knowledge of the challenges facing the financial services industry in achieving Net Zero and Climate related targets and regulatory expectations. Additionally, the role allows the holder to get involved in the detail of scoping out reporting requirements, establishing methodologies to measure Climate risks and further development of ESG philosophy across internal polices and processes. Building on progress already established by the ESG Working Group you will have the opportunity to present and challenge the ESG Committee over progress against the ESG plan and its objectives.

Qualifications/Experience
An experienced individual with an in-depth knowledge of Net Zero, Climate Change and ESG environment in the UK and awareness of the regulatory framework on such matters that HTB Group operates within.
Qualifications And Experience
- Relevant industry recognised qualifications in Sustainability / Climate Change Risk.
- Experience in previous roles of Net Zero / ESG methodologies and approach, preferably within Financial Services environment.
- Experience of Regulatory requirements around key areas of focus such as TCFD, Financed Emissions reporting and ESG.
- Presentation skills via use of MS Suite to facilitate at senior stakeholder meetings such as ESG Committee.
- Data analysis and establishment of data streams to inform progress against targets and expectations.
- Ability to work with all levels of staff and encourage a co-operative and collaborate working style.
- Analytical prowess for assessing data and conducting MI analysis to draw relevant conclusions.
- Implementation of a Net Zero strategy and further develop the existing ESG Plan to ensure HTB Group have clear Climate agenda.
- Establish and deliver a clear TCFD / IFRS compliant set of disclosures for the 2025 ARAA in line with regulatory obligations.
- Challenge and augment existing ESG and Net Zero project plans that are monitored via the ESG Working Group.
- Proactively engage senior stakeholders to add pace and direction to the Group’s Net Zero journey taking into account Peer analysis and progress.
- As directed by the Head of Enterprise Risk, participate in the climate risk stress testing processes by utilising experience and expertise to direct the content and focus of the planned stress testing e.g. (utilising the NGFS scenarios).
- Work collaboratively and progressively with first line colleagues to build understanding of the importance and Significance of ESG and Net Zero requirements and potential customer and business opportunities and impacts.
- Review and recommend enhancements to current suite of Climate & ESG KRIs / Metrics / Targets that go to various governance committees.
- Co-ordination of ESG Committee and ESG Working Group.
- Drafting agenda items for ESG Committee creating papers as required. Liaising with Company Secretary team to ensure follow up actions are documented and tracked
- Oversight of Bank wide Net Zero Strategy / ESG plan and co-ordinate with key stakeholders to drive through actions.
- Ownership of the ESG submission to external stakeholders on a quarterly basis. Includes co-ordination of the Annual ESG questionnaire.
- Working closely with key internal stakeholders in Finance, HR, Facilities, landlord.
- Manage relationship with our external carbon neutral providers. Drive the annual Carbon Neutral certification process & work with them on any key regulatory obligations such as ESOS, SECR
