Newly Qualified Salaried GP - Crays PCN

We are offering a unique opportunity for a newly qualified GP (within 2years, no previous substantive post) to join us on a fixed term salariedcontract until the 31st March 2026 within the Crays CollaborativePCN.

The PCN recognise that starting outas a GP can feel dauntingand thats why this role is designed to giveyou structure, support and space to grow. We can offer a warm, supportive andstructured environment tailored to the needs of our new GP.

The PCN is a close-knit networkof 6 GP surgeries which are Broomwood Surgery, Crescent Surgery, Derry DownsSurgery, Gillmans Road Surgery, Poverest Medical Centre and St Mary CrayPractice. Together they cover a patient population of over 35,500 patients,most of whom live in deprivation. They are a highly supportive PCN whosepractices work closely together, understanding the importance of a goodwork/life balance with an open-door ethos.

The PCN caters to thehealthcare needs of their patients by ensuring they make the best use ofcollective resources across practices, local healthcare providers andprofessional groups to allow greater resilience to primary care. To achievethis, they are supported by additional roles such as paramedics, pharmacists,social prescribers, Health and wellbeing coach, nurses, care coordinators,mental health practitioners and now your role as a newly qualified GP.

You can expect to work across no more than 2 practices across the PCN(one of which is a training practice).

Main duties of the job

See and manage patients independently

Help with the management of long-term conditions

Duty doctor on a rotational basis

Prescribe and refer in line with current best practice

Attend practice meetings and contribute toongoing quality improvement

Be part of a multidisciplinary team includingparamedics, pharmacists, social prescribers, and more

Duties and Responsibilities as a PCN GP:

Clinicallyexamine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychologicalperspective and plan clinical care accordingly referring patients to otherservices/agencies in a timely manner, utilising Practice, PCN and localguidelines

Theprovision of services commensurate with the primary care contract

Genericprescribing adhering to local and national guidance

Effectivemanagement of long-term conditions

Processingof administration in a timely manner

On arotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles

Maintainaccurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy andguidance

Adhereto best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

Contributeto the successful implementation of continuous improvement and qualityinitiatives within the PCN practices

Assistpractices achieve in areas of the QOF

Attendand contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

Ensurecompliance with the appraisal process

Prepareand complete the revalidation process

Committo self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional developmentacross the practice team

Supportthe training of medical students from all clinical disciplines

Undertakehome visits, in accordance with practice protocols

Supportthe partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, makingrecommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure

Reviewand always adhere to practice protocols and policies

Be awareof your duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere toour policies and procedures on Safeguarding Children and Safeguarding Adults.

Recognisethe need for and be able to perform and interpret investigatory procedures,including laboratory and radiology

Prioritisehealth problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex,urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergencycare

Handle confidentialpatient material in a sensitive and discrete fashion in compliance with BromleyGP Alliance policy and procedure.

To be able toinfluence, motivate and involve individuals and teams to reach necessaryperformance target expectations.

Liaise with otherdepartments and members of the Bromley GP Alliance and other organisations toensure the smooth running of the office and to assisting the functioning of theteam.

The post holder isrequired to follow Bromley GP Alliance policies and procedures which areregularly updated including:

Confidentiality / Data Protection / Freedom ofInformation

Post holders must maintain the confidentiality ofinformation about patients, staff and other health service business inaccordance with the Data Protection Act of 1998. Post holders must not, withoutprior permission, disclose any information regarding patients or staff. If anymember of staff has communicated any such information to an unauthorised personthose staff will be liable to dismissal. Moreover, the Data Protection Act 1998also renders an individual liable for prosecution in the event of unauthoriseddisclosure of information. Following the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) 2005,post holders must apply the Bromley GP Alliances FOI procedure if they receivea written request for information.

Post holders must at all times fulfil theirresponsibilities with regard to the Bromley GP Alliances Equal OpportunitiesPolicy and equality laws.

Health and Safety

All post holders have a responsibility, under theHealth and Safety at Work Act (1974) and subsequently published regulations, toensure that the Trusts health and safety policies and procedures are compliedwith to maintain a safe working environment for patients, visitors andemployees.

Infection Control

All post holders have a personal obligation to actto reduce healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs). They must attend mandatorytraining in Infection Control and be compliant with all measures required bythe Trust to reduce HCAIs. All post holders must comply with the Bromley GP Alliance infection screening and immunisation policies as well as befamiliar with the Trusts Infection Control Policies, including those thatapply

to their duties, such as Hand DecontaminationPolicy, Personal Protective Equipment Policy, safe procedures for using aseptictechniques and safe disposal of sharps.

All post holders have a responsibility to reportrisks such as clinical and non-clinical accidents or incidents promptly. Theyare expected to be familiar with the Trusts use of risk assessments to predictand control risk, as well as the incident reporting system for learning frommistakes and near misses in order to improve services. Post holders must alsoattend training identified by their manager or stated by the Trust to bemandatory.

Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults

Post holders have a general responsibility forsafeguarding children and vulnerable adults in the course of their daily dutiesand for ensuring that they are aware of the specific duties relating to theirrole.

It is the Trusts policy to promote health. Smoking,therefore, is actively discouraged. It is illegal within Trust buildings andvehicles.
