Occupational Therapist – Adults & Paediatrics

Location: Islington Council (Hybrid – office/borough minimum 2 days per week)

Pay: £32.02 – £38.00 per hour (Umbrella, negotiable depending on experience)

Contract: Full-time (part-time considered, minimum 21 hours)

Duration: Long-term, minimum 12 months (with potential for extension)

Pertemps are working in partnership with Islington Council to recruit an experienced Occupational Therapist to cover both Adults (60–70%) and Paediatrics (30–40%).

Responsibilities

  • Manage a mixed caseload of adult social care and paediatric cases.
  • Carry out assessments for major adaptations and manual handling cases in adult services.
  • Undertake paediatric assessments within social care or NHS, including children with challenging behaviours.
  • Provide high-quality, outcome-focused interventions to support independence and quality of life.
  • Work collaboratively with families, carers, and other professionals.

Requirements

  • HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in social care as an OT.
  • Proven experience in both adult adaptations/manual handling and paediatric adaptations/behavioural assessments.
  • Strong knowledge of legislation and best practice in social care.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Role Details

  • Caseload: 2–3 cases per week (depending on complexity).
  • Hours: Full-time preferred, but flexible part-time options available (minimum 21 hours across 3 days / 25 hours over 3 long days).
  • Hybrid working: Office/borough presence required 2 days per week.
  • Contract length: Long-term – funding secured for at least 12 months.
  • Progression: Opportunity to be considered for a Senior OT post, with pay adjusted accordingly.
  • Overtime available if desired.
