A Little More About Your Role
As an Offshore Cable Project / Mechanical Engineer, you will provide day‑to‑day expertise to the Offshore Cables Engineering team, focusing on hardware design and key technical decisions. The role is client‑facing, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to support Project Managers and Lead Offshore Engineers with project deliverables for HVAC / HVDC Offshore Cable elements.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed design engineering for new projects, collaborating with other departments to ensure alignment with customer and project requirements.
- Support the Project Manager with progress updates of Engineering Deliverables throughout the project lifecycle, providing updates to monthly reporting both internally and externally.
- Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to junior team members.
- Review client specifications and vendor documentation as required.
- Travel to client offices or sites and engage with vendors when necessary.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong understanding of HVAC Inter Array Cable and Export Cable design, specifications, and requirements (66 kV – 132 kV HVAC cables).
- Experience designing static and dynamic cable applications for HVDC Interconnectors up to 525 kV.
- Knowledge of cable manufacturing, electrical cores, sheath, armor, and outer layers.
- Capability to perform electrical and mechanical cable rating calculations and tension studies.
- Excellent coordination and interface skills across internal departments and external vendors.
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD; experience with cable analysis software is desirable.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information to clients.
