If you need adjustments to access or participate in recruitment, please contact us.What you will be doingYou will be working within the Communication Technologies department, focusing on advanced solutions for optical airborne connectivity and RF satellite communication. You will make an impact by collaboratively performing advanced research on optical communication and satellite communication systems for flying platforms, with collaboration across the UK, Europe, and the US.ResponsibilitiesDesigning 3D-printed and CNC’ed parts for prototype systems.Writing and testing software.Integrating hardware and assisting with trials in the lab and outdoor field tests.Assisting team members with daily tasks and learning about optics, optical communications, and RF systems.Requirements / QualificationsActive enrollment in studying an Engineering discipline (preferably Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or RF).Mechanical design skills with programs such as Autodesk, Fusion 360, FreeCAD.Strong teamwork, excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to work independently.Undergraduate status for the whole duration of the placement (candidates must be undergraduates for the entire placement).
