Are you passionate about Industry 4.0, IIoT and the role technology plays in our operations? We’ve an exciting opportunity to join our Information Services team as an Operational Technology Communications and Process Automation Engineer.
Operational Technology (OT) is at the heartbeat of our operations and enables remote monitoring and control of our assets. You will support our operations to deliver amazing clean drinking water to our customers whilst also enhancing and protecting the environment for the benefit of wildlife and the communities we serve
Reporting to the Head of Operational Technology, you’ll join a team who is responsible for supporting and maintaining field-based instrumentation, automation, control, and communication assets. Working closely service providers such as operations, water quality, service planning, asset investment and maintenance, you will provide technical support to OT services to embed standardisation ensuring high availability, serviceability, and reliability of the estate.
We’re looking for you to support the delivery of our OT strategy and to ensure our systems, safe, secure, and compliant with all relevant standards and legislation. We are also looking for you to be innovative in evaluating new technologies, supporting the transformation and modernisation of the estate.
You’ll also provide technical support and training to operational and maintenance teams and support in the diagnosis of instrumentation and control issues to mitigate regulatory non-compliance and process continuity risks. You’ll be responsible for maintaining and developing the centralised OT control software library.
You’ll also identify and develop the skills, capabilities and software required to provide a support & maintenance service for OT assets whilst demonstrating operational benefits and risk reduction through automation.
About you
You’ll have knowledge of Instrumentation, Process Control and Measurement systems such as flow meters, online analytics, level and pressure instruments. In addition, you’ll have knowledge of wide area telemetry systems and plant fieldbus systems.
You’ll have proven experience interpreting complex information and writing clear proposals, business letters, reports. You’ll have advanced ability of PLC Management and Programming, especially Allen Bradley and the associated Rockwell Automation software.
The ability to understand operating and capital expenditure and logical aptitude, enabling optimisation.
Be able to identify opportunities to improve operational control systems to futureproof the business, keeping abreast of modern technologies.
