Who We Are
Our vision is a world where all businesses are powered by embedded payments. Modulr enables businesses, from SMEs to Enterprise, to grow their revenue, drive efficiencies and deliver fantastic customer experiences, by embedding payments into their products and operating systems. We do this by providing products and services which allow our clients to efficiently collect, reconcile and disburse funds instantly via a range of payment schemes, accounts, and card products, fully controllable via API.
It is a broad and complex activity which requires a strong understanding of Compliance (beyond just AML matters), the ability to build and manage client relationships, the ability to work collaboratively with many other teams within Modulr, and a mindset of curiosity and ability to understand a Partner’s business model and think about the implications of that where they are operating under Modulr’s licence.
The role of the Partner Oversight team is to oversee the activities of these Partners, ranging from how they promote their services and deliver against Consumer Duty requirements, through to their performance of outsourced AML and financial crime controls such as KYC and Transaction Monitoring, to understanding their business plans and financial viability.
The Partner Oversight team is made up of Partner Oversight Analysts, each of whom have a portfolio of Partners that they oversee in line with the Partner Oversight framework. Partner Oversight Analysts work closely with a range of other teams within Modulr. Partner Oversight Analysts also act as a Compliance contact point for the Partner. - Owning a portfolio of Partners, and deeply understanding their business model, use of Modulr’s products and services, and how those come together to fit within the regulatory framework and what risks exist as a result.
- Carry out day to day activities in line with the Partner Oversight Framework, with the objective of managing risk for Modulr and working with Partners to ensure they reach successful Compliance outcomes.
- Liaising directly with Partners through scheduled and ad hoc calls, to gain updates and insights (in line with the Partner Oversight framework and guidance) as well as to update and progress on specific topics and build the relationship. Add value to Partners through engagements with them, sharing appropriate insights and industry updates.
- Receiving and analysing MI in relation to Partners, assessing for emerging risks and trends.
- For Partners with outsourced KYC, request regular samples and carry out or oversee sample checking including dealing with any quality issues.
- Escalating Partners where there are any concerns, to ensure appropriate visibility. Where relevant, propose appropriate restrictions or offboarding steps including keeping the Partner informed on these matters.
- Supporting requests from Partners which require sign off from Modulr, such as entering new markets or adopting new products. Owning these and leading them through internal Modulr review and approval steps in a timely manner, including keeping the Partner updated throughout the process.
- Following up with Partners after initial or refresh audits, ensuring action plans are put in place to address any findings, and that these are tracked and delivered against.
- Identifying and proposing opportunities for continuous improvement in the Partner Oversight function, for example through training, tooling, and improved processes.
- Working with other internal Modulr teams to maintain a strong control environment and deliver a co‑ordinated experience for our Partners. This applies across both the other Line 1 Compliance Operations teams, as well as the broader customer facing teams. Act as a central contact for Compliance matters in relation to the Parter, and a source of expertise on the activities of the Partner where required.
- Engaging in training and quality assurance activities across the team. Where possible, provide support and insights to other Partner Oversight Analysts, including sharing learnings and insights.
- Supporting internal reporting into Governance committees and regulatory updates.
