Payroll and Accounts Payable Officer

Overview
We’re Genio, a SaaS learning tools company. We’re looking for a Payroll and Accounts Payable Officer to join on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract.
What you’ll be doing
- Accounts Payable and supplier communications: manage purchase ledger, invoice entry, approvals, supplier communication, bank payments, reconciling accounts, prepayments, and staff expenses.
- Payroll management: end-to-end ownership of monthly payroll, working with the EX team and outsourced payroll providers to maintain payroll data and ensure accurate payments.
- Month end close: process transactions, support sales ledger and credit control, reconcile key balance sheet accounts, assist with monthly management accounts and budget variance analysis.
- Internal and external stakeholder communication: respond to queries and support ad-hoc requests.
- Fixed Asset Register: monitor and maintain the register.
- VAT Returns: prepare quarterly VAT returns and maintain compliance with regulations and Genio policies.
About you
We are looking for someone with:
- Previous experience in managing payroll from end-to-end.
- Strong knowledge of financial processes and practices.
- Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Good understanding of financial compliance and regulations.
Desirable
- Previous experience in accounts payable is desirable.
- Experience with Xero, Pento, and Spendesk is advantageous.
Salary and benefits
- £33,000–£37,500 dependent on experience

Note: This role is a 12-month maternity cover contract.
Location
Hybrid working in the UK. For this role, remote work is supported if you live more than 50 miles from the Leeds office.
