Overview
This position is part of the specialist Payroll and Pensions Team within the Finance Directorate. The team provides the knowledge, experience and administrative input required to ensure staff are paid on time, accurately and in accordance with the University's terms and conditions, while maintaining a high level of customer service and strengthening key stakeholder relationships.
The role is a key component that enables the in-house payroll and pension function to succeed. Duties will mainly cover pre and post payroll activities, including maintaining the team’s inbox (the main source of customer queries), processing new employee starter actions, producing and distributing P45s and Payslips, and assisting in reconciling payroll control accounts within the general ledger of the accounting system.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the team inbox and respond to payroll-related queries

Requirements / Qualifications
- Flexible, hands-on approach to work within the team
- Previous payroll experience and the ability to prioritise work, take responsibility and meet strict deadlines
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Team player with a commitment to maintaining a high level of customer service

Working arrangements
Where a hybrid working arrangement can be accommodated, it is expected that colleagues will spend the majority (at least 60%) of their usual working time on campus each week. Regardless of where colleagues are working, City St George's, University of London premises will be their primary and contractual place of work.
