We're seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Lead to join our dedicated Finance team. In this role, you will own the entire payroll process from start to finish each month, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. You will be a key player in the Finance department, reporting to the Senior Payroll Manager, and it will be essential to ensure our team members are paid accurately and on time.
Responsibilities
- Process the full monthly payroll, ensuring all employees are paid on time and accurately. This includes managing statutory payments, sickness, overtime, and salary sacrifice arrangements.
- Maintain and update all employee records within the payroll system.
- Collaborate with the People & Culture team to ensure payroll data integrity.
- Manage and resolve employee payroll queries and communications.
- Assist with month-end and year-end processes, including general ledger reconciliation, HMRC reporting (RTI, P11D), and preparing P45s and P60s.
- Manage pension administration, including contribution submissions and re-declarations.
- Process and reimburse employee expenses.
- Support the transfer of employees to a new company.
What you'll need to succeed
We're seeking a flexible team player who can also work independently. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of UK payroll legislation and systems.
You should have a calm, logical, and practical approach, with high degrees of initiative, accuracy, and attention to detail. We're looking for someone who can multitask and prioritise effectively under pressure, all while meeting deadlines and upholding quality standards.
Essentials
- Have a strong working knowledge of UK payroll legislation and systems, with experience in Frontier software being a plus.
- Be a flexible team player who can also work independently.
- Remain calm and maintain a high degree of initiative, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Be able to take a logical and practical approach to your work.
- Be able to multitask, prioritise under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Possess excellent organisational skills.
Desirable
- CIPP qualified or equivalent would be beneficial.
