Payroll Manager Central London (Permanent Role)

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Payroll Manager to join our team in Central London. This is a permanent opportunity to lead and manage all aspects of payroll operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll delivery across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage four–weekly payroll cycles with a focus on accuracy and validation.
  • Be the main point of contact for payroll queries from employees and line managers.
  • Perform gross–to–net calculations, including statutory payments (SMP, SSP, etc.).
  • Act as the subject matter expert on payroll legislation and compliance.
  • Maintain delegated authority protocols and specimen signature lists.
  • Oversee the relationship with Midland HR (iTrent), ensuring system efficiency.
  • Work closely with HR on pay awards, harmonisation, bonuses, and organisational changes.
  • Lead the tax year–end process, including P11D production.
  • Calculate and process maternity and paternity pay.
  • Liaise with HMRC to resolve queries and ensure timely PAYE/NI payments.
  • Prepare weekly payroll cashflows for Treasury and highlight variances.
  • Submit monthly payroll data to the Office for National Statistics.
  • Provide timely reporting to HR, Finance, and management.
  • Notify Treasury of AVC payments for RPMI.
  • Prepare the annual Gender Pay Report.
  • Manage bonus payments and pay uplifts across staff grades.

What We Re Looking For

  • Proven experience in payroll management, ideally in a complex or unionised setting.
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems, especially iTrent.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • High attention to detail and a proactive approach to process improvement.
