Who are you?
You’re a natural leader, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering an exceptional payroll experience - not just for customers, but for your team too.
You thrive in a structured, fast-paced environment and can juggle multiple priorities while coaching and developing others. You’ll play a crucial role supporting the Payroll Operations Management team and acting as the first point of escalation for customers, internal departments, and employees.

What do we need for this role?
- Lead, support and coach a team of Payroll Specialists through monthly 1:1s, day-to-day guidance and regular check-ins.
- Recruit, onboard, and support training of new team members in collaboration with the Training Manager.
- Coordinate absence cover and ensure operational continuity.
- Conduct daily huddles and team briefings to maintain focus and progress on priorities.
- Foster team engagement, motivation, and a positive work environment.
- Manage the allocation of payrolls and balance effectively across the team
Operational Oversight
- Monitor team performance against SLAs and KPIs, driving continuous improvement in service delivery and quality.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC, pension regulations, and internal controls
- Oversee accurate end to end payroll processing, ensuring all employees are paid on time and in compliance with legislation.
- Maintain zero outstanding cases daily and ensure all payroll funding requirements and end of day checks are completed.
- Support payroll transitions from implementation to business as usual, including process documentation and customer training.
Reporting, Projects & Business Support
- Ownership of payroll reporting, analytics, and data insights for leadership.
- Contribution to or ownership of contingency planning in case of system failures or emergencies.
- Drive departmental projects and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

2nd – Final interview with Stacey Heathcote (Director of Payroll) & Sheryl Steele (Director of Ops and Business Performance) to deep dive into your specifical skills, management experience and payroll knowledge, and give you the chance to ask us any questions.
