Base pay range
Anderson Knight is partnering with a respected organisation to recruit a Payroll Lead on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to join a dynamic business during a period of growth and transformation.
The organisation is well-established and known for impactful work across the UK. The successful candidate will lead the payroll function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement, while supporting a high-performing team.
The role offers hybrid working (2 days in the office) and a salary of £44-46,000 per year.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring deadlines and legislative requirements are met.
- Manage and develop a payroll team, including recruitment, training, and performance reviews.
- Maintain governance and audit controls, reviewing processes regularly.
- Collaborate with finance teams to model pay scenarios and ensure HMRC compliance.
- Provide payroll advice on tax, national insurance, pensions, and deductions.
- Handle payroll reporting, tax year-end processes, and statutory returns.
- Administer pension schemes and coordinate with providers.
- Reconcile payroll and finance system data, resolving discrepancies.
- Generate payroll data analysis and reports.
Team Leadership
- Mentor payroll staff to meet team and organisational goals.
- Conduct appraisals and manage absences.
- Foster a positive working culture aligned with organisational values.
About You
- Significant payroll management experience, including team leadership.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, pensions, and reconciliation.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and external agencies.
- Proficient with payroll systems and technology, with a focus on improvement.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, proactive and solutions-oriented.
- Willing to travel occasionally across the UK.
Location: Hybrid (office in Glasgow with remote options and UK travel)
