PC - Intelligence Officer (EWRT & LASIT) (CTPSE)
New Today
Overview
An exciting and unique opportunity for a constable to join the regional team within CTPSE on the ERWT (Extreme Right Wing Terrorism) and LASIT (Left, Anarchist, Single Issue Terrorism) team responsible for Thames Valley, Kent, Surrey & Sussex and Hampshire Police intelligence within CTPSE.
CTPSE is a specialist regional unit comprising officers and staff from our five regional forces. We work with partners to protect the public and national security by preventing, deterring and investigating terrorist activity. Our Intelligence Team assesses and develops partnership intelligence to support each area of our business, at local and national levels.
This role is wide-ranging, providing opportunity to work with partners to develop and manage intelligence of significant risk. We manage risk on behalf of our forces to meet our CONTEST objectives.
There is great variety in this role, offering opportunities to support operational activity across the CT network when a terrorist incident occurs, with many chances to be involved in regional and national work. It is desirable that the candidate has experience of intelligence handling, but essential that the candidate has experience of risk management.
You will be privy to sensitive intelligence and tactics, and your expertise and that of your teams is crucial in enhancing operational activity and terrorist investigations.
We are looking for an officer with experience in a broad field of intelligence including risk management, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will need to work under pressure and have effective time management skills. The successful candidate must also have experience of managing sensitive intelligence within the NIM in support of serious crime investigations and have working knowledge of NCIA.
The successful candidate will be expected to deliver training both within and outside of the network on the ERWT and LASIT thematic.
Please note that this role is part of a national, regional and local network and you may be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the south east region and occasionally throughout the UK. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.
You will also be required to perform on-call arrangements for immediate response as required across the South East region.
Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance. The successful candidate must obtain and maintain DV vetting together with a number of enhanced security checks. To achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past ten years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government) and studying abroad. If successful, there are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries once in post.
You can find more information about security vetting here.
