About the Role:
Are you a commercially driven professional with strong technical acumen and a passion for building lasting customer relationships? SMT GB is seeking a Penta Strategic Account Manager to lead the strategic growth of Volvo Penta's industrial engine product range across Great Britain.
This pivotal role involves combining commercial strategy, market insight, and hands-on technical knowledge to drive new engine sales and the long-term success of aftermarket services. You will collaborate closely with OEM partners, end customers, and the Volvo Penta team to ensure industry-leading support throughout the product lifecycle.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Strategic Growth: Develop and implement a business plan focused on profitable growth in engine sales and aftermarket parts & services.
- Customer Engagement: Build strong relationships with new and existing customers, working with Volvo Penta's sales and development teams.
- Market Insight: Identify commercial opportunities through market analysis and competitor intelligence.
- Sales & Marketing: Create customer sales plans and marketing campaigns to attract new business.
- Technical Leadership: Support OEMs and end users with technical advice, installation reviews, commissioning, and application engineering, ensuring all installations meet Volvo Penta's standards.
- Training & Representation: Deliver product training to OEMs and represent SMT GB at trade shows and industry events.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
The ideal candidate should have:
- Proven experience in account management or sales, especially in construction or heavy machinery sectors
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building lasting relationships
- A strategic mindset to identify growth opportunities within accounts
- Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated and results-oriented, committed to high-quality service
- Familiarity with CRM systems for tracking performance
- Understanding of financial principles and budget management
- A valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed
Desirable:
- Knowledge of SMT GB's products in the Penta market
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions
- Understanding of SMT's values, vision, and customer needs
- Experience representing a company at industry events
