Role Overview
We’re looking for a Personal Advisor to join our Future Directions Leaving Care Team, supporting care-experienced young people aged 16–25 as they transition into adulthood. This is a vital role that helps young people navigate key areas of life including housing, education, employment, health, and relationships.
Responsibilities
- Build trusted relationships with young people preparing to leave care and those post-care
- Support with Pathway Plans: creation, updates, and implementation
- Advocate across multi-agency settings (housing, education, health)
- Promote access to training, employment, and education
- Address challenges around substance misuse, mental health, and disabilities
- Provide guidance on tenancy management, homelessness, and family reunification
- Maintain accurate records and produce high-quality reports
Living Situations of Young People
You’ll support young people in a variety of settings:
- Residential units
- Semi-independent accommodation
- Foster care
- Own tenancy
- Homeless or living with family
Ideal Candidate Profile
We’re seeking candidates who can hit the ground running in complex, multi-agency environments. You’ll ideally have experience with:
- Care leavers / looked-after children
- Local authority services
- Youth offending, residential work, or school-based support
You’ll be comfortable working with:
- 16–17 year olds (less intensive support)
- 18–25 year olds (primary focus)
Key skills:
- Strong report writing, time management, and IT proficiency
- Willingness to learn and ask for help
- Passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
Caseload & Support
- Caseload: 18 young people (max 25)
- Young people remain with their PA until age 25
- Team culture: supportive, stable, and committed to development

Location and contract details: Base at Care Leavers Hub, near Westgate; Hybrid work pattern (3 days onsite per week); Contract: 12 weeks initially, with potential to extend; Interview Format: Microsoft Teams.
