Play an active role in setting the pricing strategy for Personal Lines products.

Work from home up to 80% of the time to support work-life balance.

About the role

Our Pricing Department is a well-established function focused on delivering long term value for customers rather than short-term profit targets. This role sits within the Motor Pricing team and will focus on formulating and achieving the pricing strategy for Motor products, with an initial focus on Car, and influence on Commercial Motor (especially Van) and Tractor. The role involves assessing the accuracy and improving pricing models, and determining the final price charged to customers.

As a Pricing Consultant, you’ll lead a small team responsible for recommending and managing motor portfolio pricing strategies by analysing internal and external data sets, utilising various pricing models, and collaborating with the wider Pricing Department (Data, Modelling and Risk Pricing teams) and external stakeholders (Underwriting, Distribution, Claims and Finance).

You’ll monitor and improve the integrity and accuracy of pricing models and conduct regular scenario planning and impact assessments of pricing actions on metrics such as conversion rate, retention and profitability. You will line-manage a small team of analysts, coaching and mentoring junior colleagues and supporting their development and technical queries.

About you

As a commercially minded and customer-oriented professional, you will have extensive experience in the General Insurance sector with specific prior experience in Insurance Pricing, ideally motor. You will have a proven track record of analysing complex data, drawing conclusions and delivering commercially sound recommendations to achieve fair and accurate customer prices. Experience in product ownership is desirable.

You should be able to consider all relevant internal and external factors to formulate a comprehensive view of the market and deliver street prices in line with policy. Proficiency with Radar and price optimisation is desirable.

You will be an excellent communicator able to build effective stakeholder relationships, navigate difficult conversations and influence decisions.

As an experienced team member, you should also demonstrate the following:

  • Resilience: remain focused and effective under pressure, turning challenges into opportunities for growth
  • Problem solving mindset: tackle challenges with a practical and innovative approach
  • Forward thinking: anticipate future trends and drive long-term success
  • Communication: explain complex information accessibly to non-technical audiences
  • Coaching and mentoring: lead by example and support others to perform at their best
