Philanthropy Lead – Major Giving and Transformational Giving Location: Hybrid between home and our London office (EC2Y 9AL) Hours: 35 per week Salary Range: £59,030 (plus Inner London Weighting, £3,344, if applicable) per annum Contract type: Permanent Day in the Life As Philanthropy Lead, you'll guide a team of skilled fundraisers, building a strong pipeline of donors capable of giving £50,000 to £1m or more. You will create compelling strategies and deliver outstanding stewardship, inspiring multi‑year gifts of six figures and above. Governance and compliance will guide you; you’ll maintain high ethical standards and ensure full compliance with internal protocols and external fundraising regulations. You will develop ambitious fundraising strategies to meet and exceed annual targets, lay groundwork for long‑term growth, and collaborate across the Partnerships and Philanthropy department and the wider directorate. Account plans must be strategic, actionable, and regularly reviewed, delivering a tailored, high‑quality experience for partners. You will leverage urgent campaigns to boost appeal income and cultivate a robust pipeline of long‑term supporters, responding to humanitarian needs with bold, wide‑ranging fundraising activities. It’s more than fundraising—it’s about shaping the future of philanthropy for the British Red Cross. You will be part of a collaborative team driving meaningful change. Qualifications
Extensive hands‑on experience in philanthropy fundraising with deep understanding of the sector’s opportunities and challenges. Proven leadership and line‑management skills; mentoring and coaching a team of fundraisers, setting KPIs, performance managing when needed, and motivating by example. Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, with a strong track record of persuasive proposals, impactful reports, and confident presentations. Skilled in negotiation, influencing, and interpersonal skills. Experienced in stakeholder coordination and partnership work across multiple teams, fostering positive, productive relationships. Strategic thinking with advanced analytical skills; adept at interpreting quantitative and qualitative data to inform decision‑making and tailor communications to diverse audiences. Deep knowledge of philanthropy fundraising, the UK fundraising landscape, and the charity sector; firm understanding of legislation affecting charity fundraising.
