EPUT has an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Physiotherapist to join its specialist Stroke and Neurological rehabilitation team.

The role will involve providing, and overseeing, the Physiotherapy delivery of Stroke and Neurological Rehabilitation in an inpatient ward as well as a community setting within the Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team (ESD).

We are looking for someone with considerable post-graduate stroke and neurology experience who is keen to continue expanding and developing their skills. The ideal candidate will have postgraduate training within neurology, the ability to effectively manage a complex caseload of patients, excellent time management skills and knowledge and experience of a leadership role as well as experience of both Inpatient and Community Services.

This position will provide excellent opportunities to develop critical experience and leadership skills along with working within an extremely supportive team. The Trust is committed to promoting continuing professional development along with looking at new and creative ways of working. A flexible approach is required to accommodate the changing needs of the service along with the drive to influence service development.

It is essential that you possess a current driving licence and have access to a car for work purposes. Good IT skills are required as electronic patient records are used.

To be responsible for the clinical and administrative delivery of work

from a team of Physiotherapists working across Beech Ward and the

Early Supported Discharge Team. This will include monitoring

caseloads and supporting with complex cases.

To undertake a comprehensive assessment and management of

patients who may have had a stroke, neurological and/or complex

conditions including multi pathology.

To select appropriate treatment techniques from a wide range of specialist skills available. The selection of techniques will be based on both theoretical and practical knowledge and evaluated past experience.

To plan and undertake discharge of patients from the Rehabilitation Ward or the ESD service when agreed goals have been reached or treatment is no longer appropriate.

To be able to review referrals received from the acute hospitals and assess for appropriateness against criteria. Correctly identify inappropriate referrals to and confidently refer on or back as required.

To carry out 6 month reviews for patients post stroke living in the West Essex area.

To provide specialist evidence based advice to more junior physiotherapists and other professionals working within the field on clinical issues.

To promote and deliver Service development and training

To maintain knowledge of the current, and any future development of, Stroke Guidelines, Pathways and Models
