Planning Enforcement Officer – Maldon District Council

Essex County Council (ECC) is supporting Maldon District Council in recruiting a Planning Enforcement Officer on an initial 3-month temporary basis.
Key Accountabilities
The successful candidate will focus on investigating potential breaches of planning control to maintain a high-quality built and natural environment in Maldon District. The role involves liaising with the public, drafting reports and notices, and representing the Council in enforcement-related appeals and court proceedings. Most work can be performed remotely, with regular meetings with the Planning Enforcement and Legal teams, and occasional site visits for training, equipment pickup, or court attendance.
Required Experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with people
- Proven ability to provide sound planning enforcement advice and guidance
- Strong reasoning, analytical skills, curiosity, and decision-making ability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organizational skills
- Tenacity, problem-solving mindset, adaptability, and initiative
