£35,235 - £38,626 per year (pay award pending). This position is Full time and Permanent. Swansea Council is looking for a dedicated Planning Officer (Enforcement) to join our dynamic planning team and help uphold the integrity of our local planning system. In this vital role, you will investigate alleged breaches of planning control, assess their impact, and take appropriate enforcement action where necessary.
- Investigate complaints and reports of unauthorised development or breaches of planning control.
- Conduct site visits, gather evidence, and maintain accurate records.
- Liaise with developers, landowners, and members of the public to resolve issues.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for enforcement action.
- Issue enforcement notices and represent the authority at appeals or in court, if required.
- Work collaboratively with planning officers, legal advisors, and other stakeholders.
- Where appropriate, process planning applications
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Knowledgeable in planning legislation, policies, and enforcement procedures.
- An excellent communicator with strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Organised, methodical, and able to manage a varied caseload.
- Comfortable working independently and making sound judgments.
- Qualifications & Experience
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Town Planning, Environmental Law, or a related field (desirable).
- Demonstrate a knowledge of Planning Law and related procedures
- Full UK driving licence (or equivalent)
