As a lawyer, you will work on a variety of matters from regional to international scope across practice groups. You will grow a global mindset, be encouraged to put ideas into action, and have opportunities to engage in new and different work., Eversheds Sutherland has one of the largest national planning teams, handling complex and high-value development and regeneration schemes. The team advises on a range of areas, including living sector development, office and logistics development, data centres, and regeneration projects, for national and global developers and promoters. The team provides advice on :

  • Strategic planning advice on opportunities and constraints
  • Pre-application advice and support
  • Acquisition / Development / Project Finance, including project support on corporate and real estate transactions
  • Environmental Impact Assessments and related application review
  • Planning and highway agreements
  • Contentious matters such as planning appeals, judicial reviews, and court proceedings
  • Post-consent strategic advice
  • Drafting and negotiation of planning and highways agreements
  • Listed building and conservation area issues
  • Highway issues

The Role

You will be based in Leeds and work on a national basis within the D&R sub-group of the National Planning Team. The role involves advising clients throughout the building lifecycle, from strategic planning to acquisition and financing issues, and delivery of consented schemes. The D&R team serves high-profile global and national clients and leads on major projects. You will participate in the full range of work, with a national focus. You will supervise junior colleagues, contribute to marketing and business development, manage client relationships, and take a lead role alongside partners when appropriate. You will take on a client-facing role from the outset and be expected to efficiently manage junior resources.

Qualifications

  • Qualified planning solicitor with 6+ years’ post-qualification experience
  • Demonstrable experience in development and regeneration matters
  • Ability to manage client relationships effectively and contribute to team success
  • Experience in supervising / mentoring junior colleagues (beneficial but not essential)
