Power BI Consultant – Paginated/SSRS Reporting

Job Title: Power BI Consultant – Paginated/SSRS Reporting (Contractor)

Overview

We are seeking a highly capable Power BI Consultant for a 3–4 month contract engagement to support the EDP project through advanced Paginated and SSRS reporting capabilities. The consultant will work closely with engineering and data teams to deliver high-impact reporting solutions that meet complex formatting, parameterization, and visualization requirements.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on expertise with Report Builder, Power BI Paginated Reports, and Azure Maps.
• Design and implement paginated reports with advanced formatting and layout controls (pagination, conditional visibility, page numbering, repeated content on pages, etc.).
• Configure dynamic parameter passing via URL to Power BI paginated reports.
• Implement M parameter handling with query folding for performance optimisation.
• Develop visualisations beyond tables: charts with axes, scale breaks, strip lines, small multiples, gauge indicators, dynamic icons, and embedded images.
• Azure Maps integration for geospatial rendering within paginated reports.
• Design robust parameter frameworks (default values, cascading parameters, multi-select, 'All' options, optional parameters).
• Set up and manage data-driven subscriptions and parameter scheduling patterns.
• Proven experience with Power BI Paginated Reports and SSRS.
• Strong proficiency in Report Builder and advanced report formatting techniques.
• Deep understanding of Power BI parameterisation and query folding.
• Experience with Azure Data Services and integration patterns; awareness of accessibility and compliance standards in reporting.
• Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality outputs under tight timelines in enterprise reporting environments.
• Collaborate with engineering and data teams to meet complex formatting and visualization requirements.

Qualifications

• Active SC (Security Clearance).
• Extensive hands-on experience with Power BI Paginated Reports, SSRS, Report Builder.
• Experience with Azure Maps and geospatial visualization in reporting.
• Knowledge of data-driven subscriptions, scheduling strategies, and parameter handling.
• Experience in enterprise reporting environments; familiarity with Azure Data Services.
• Strong communication and ability to work independently on tight timelines.
