Ryan UK Property Tax is pleased to announce a new opportunity for a Power BI Developer to join our Tax team in Manchester. This is predominantly a remote position with ad hoc office requirements (if required).
The successful candidate will support our business intelligence function through analysis of complex business problems and issues, using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and Databricks would be advantageous, particularly as we continue to evolve our data infrastructure, but is not essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting
- Produce reports and dashboards on Microsoft Dynamics using Power BI for all UK Tax business units, reviewing and validating data to ensure accuracy.
- Create specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs or available data elements, providing consultation to users and leading cross-functional teams to address business issues.
- Ensure consistency in reporting and empower employees to run and update their own reports.
- Familiarity with Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, or Databricks to support scalable and integrated reporting solutions.
Business Intelligence
- Use Microsoft Dynamics and Power BI to conduct business intelligence reviews, uncover actionable insights, and support better data-driven decision-making across the UK Tax business.
- Communicate findings clearly to senior management to influence operational strategies.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
- Experience with Azure-based data pipelines or Databricks notebooks for data transformation and analysis.
Complexity and Problem Solving
- Address diverse business challenges where analysis of information requires evaluation of multiple factors.
- Identify trends and patterns in datasets to inform forecasts, recommendations, and strategic plans.
- Use judgment and interpretation to determine appropriate approaches, working independently with input at key review stages.
Key Qualifications
- Relevant experience in business intelligence, IT support, data science, or analytics.
- Strong knowledge and experience with Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
- Knowledge of SQL, ETL, DAX, and data modelling is an asset.
- Desirable: Exposure to cloud-scale data processing tools such as Azure Data Factory or Databricks to support advanced analytics workflows.
- Experience producing datasets and reports, and communicating findings to stakeholders.
- Ability to assess a wide range of issues creatively and propose appropriate solutions.
- Ability to adapt communication style for various audiences and offer guidance on complex matters.
