Job Title: Senior Analyst - Portfolio Profitability Modelling

Contract Type: Permanent, Fulltime

Location: Bradford, Petersfield, Chatham or London

Working Pattern: Hybrid - typically 1 day a week in the office. Part-time or flexible arrangements are considered to support work-life balance. The Role

The Pricing Modelling team operates as a Centre of Excellence to develop, maintain and evolve the capability of pricing models across the bank's products (Credit Cards, Vehicle Finance, Second Charge Mortgages, Savings). These models enable the business to achieve its financial objectives by embedding advanced data-driven modelling into commercial strategy and pricing decisions to drive sustainable profitability.

As an Analyst, you will own the design, development, and maintenance of profitability and pricing models and tracking suite. You will play a key role in designing and shaping the next generation of models in a cloud-based, data-driven environment to unlock greater flexibility and granularity for faster, smarter decision making.

As a Senior Analyst - Portfolio Profitability Modelling, you will:

  • Lead the design, development, innovation, and maintenance of our profitability and pricing models and tracking suites
  • Evolve the capability of pricing models through automation, enhanced granularity, and streamlined user interfaces on a next-generation cloud-based analytics platform
  • Combine business strategies and levers with data-driven customer performance within the models to translate key performance drivers into financial measures and outcomes (e.g., RoTE and PBT)
  • Support other teams in profitability and financial analysis to ensure we make the right decisions for our shareholders and customers
  • Place strong and robust controls and automation around everything you do to ensure tools and models are precise, accurate, and trusted
  • Ensure all models in operation are fit for purpose through dynamic monitoring, recalibration and redevelopment when necessary
  • Identify new opportunities and improvements in current modelling practices, processes and tools through inquisitive and innovative analysis
  • Coach junior team members; conduct peer-review and model behaviours and standards
  • Deputise for Senior manager as required

What We're Looking For

  • Pricing Modelling: Experience developing NPVs, profitability, pricing or financial models in Python/SAS/SQL/Excel or similar, with understanding of purpose, design, mechanics and outputs
  • Coding & Forecasting: Proficiency in Python, Snowflake, SQL, or SAS; capable of building code from scratch to manipulate data and using forecasting techniques/tools
  • Financial Metrics: Familiarity with P&L / balance sheet components and key measures
  • Lending Products: Experience with Credit Cards, Loans, or Vehicle Finance and related profitability drivers and modelling approaches
  • Model Development: Understanding of the model development lifecycle and key principles
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, able to present complex findings to non-technical stakeholders
