Job Description

This Principal Electrical Engineer/Technical Director position will see you joining the Leeds office of a leading water industry consultancy. They are close partners with water authorities and organizations such as the Environment Agency and Flood Authorities, offering a diverse range of projects beyond typical AMP 8 duties.

In this role, you will bring your expertise in HV, LV, and controls within water, battery storage, or similar industries. You will support less experienced engineers and lead on schemes, providing an exciting opportunity to advance the current office leadership while being supported in your development.

Working alongside the Civil and Electrical Design team, you will produce electrical layouts for substations (including AIS / GIS up to 400kV), cable route layouts, LV layouts, switchroom and control room equipment layouts, and site earthing layouts.

This role involves client interaction, mentoring, and a focus on innovation. A sound understanding of engineering standards such as ENATS 41-24, NGTS RES i3, NGTS 3.02.014 RES, NGTS 2.01 RES, NGTS 1, NGTS 3.01.02, BS 50522, BS7430, and familiarity with G81 standards and DNO's approved equipment registers is essential.

You must be Chartered or actively working towards Chartered status, with proven experience in primary electrical design within a consultancy, contractor, or utility in the Power industry. Your experience should include producing electrical layout drawings for substations, switchrooms, control rooms, and projects with elements adopted under G81 by DNOs, such as:

1. 11kV distribution networks
2. 22kV distribution networks
3. 33kV switchrooms and control rooms
4. 66kV AIS substations
5. 132kV AIS substations
