Principal Azure Engineer – Softcat

Softcat is a £1‑billion+ technology solutions business that partners with leaders such as Apple, Microsoft and Adobe. In this role you will be a key escalation point for our Azure Cloud Operations team, driving the quality, reliability and continuous improvement of our Managed Service.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical escalation point for complex Microsoft Azure incidents, changes, service requests and problem records.
  • Meet and exceed the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) defined by the Support Team Manager.
  • Own the automation and continuous enhancement of our Managed Service, collaborating across teams to deliver innovation and reliability.
  • Partner with the Service Delivery team to ensure customers receive exceptional support and service.

Qualifications

  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash and PowerShell.
  • Relevant Azure certifications and experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred) and Kubernetes in an enterprise environment.
  • In‑depth knowledge of relational databases (SQL, MySQL) and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls).
  • A passion for continuous learning and staying current with emerging cloud technologies.
