Location: United Kingdom (South West preferred: Exeter or Bristol offices; other locations nationwide considered).

What you will do

WSP are seeking Chartered Civil Engineers with experience in Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management for River Scour and Local Authority programme delivery. You will work within our River and Coastal Engineering team to support clients and projects across the UK, focusing on Local Authorities, Network Rail, Highways, Environment Agency and major infrastructure projects including offshore wind, desalination plants and submarine cables. You will contribute to modelling, appraisal and feasibility studies, business cases and designs from concept through to detailed designs. Your responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical support and expertise for rivers, scour and coastal civil engineering design teams
  • Supporting the delivery of proposals
  • Mentoring and helping to develop Apprentices, Graduates and Early Career Professionals
  • Contributing to the Innovation Accelerator program and Research and Development programmes
  • Supporting the delivery of local authority FCERM programmes

What we are looking for

  • Chartered Civil Engineer status
  • Degree qualified in civil engineering
  • Experience in Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management, ideally some experience in scour assessment and scour repair design (not essential)
  • Knowledge and understanding of flood and river scour design principles and solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Successful management of projects/programmes and teams to meet quality and commercial targets
