At Peregrine, we are recruiting on behalf of our clients. We are seeking a Principal Design Architect, responsible for designing and assuring complex, high-impact solutions that align with enterprise architecture standards and strategic business objectives.

The Role
The Principal Design Architect is a senior technical leader operating across multiple projects or domains, combining deep technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement to shape architecture outcomes from concept to delivery. The Principal Solution Architect provides governance, coaching, and quality assurance for solution designs developed by other architects, while also directly leading architecture for key programmes or cross-cutting initiatives. This role serves as a bridge between enterprise-level architectural strategy and project-level solution execution, ensuring consistency, scalability, and long-term maintainability across the technology landscape.
Responsibilities
- Drive Improvements and Efficiencies in the Architecture Community. Actively contribute to strengthening the architecture practice by promoting continuous improvement, sharing knowledge, and identifying ways to improve tooling, processes, and ways of working to increase the efficiency and impact of the architecture community.
- Define and Maintain End-to-End Architecture Strategy. Own and evolve the overall architecture strategy to deliver cohesive, end-to-end solutions aligned to business and enterprise objectives.
- Shape Cross-Domain Solution Building Blocks. Ensure the integration and alignment of domain-level building blocks into complete, reliable, and scalable end-to-end solutions.
- Solution Integration Assurance. Provide oversight and assurance that multi-domain solutions are fully integrated, technically sound, and strategically aligned.
- Drive End-to-End Roadmap Development. Work across domains and with suppliers to influence and align technology roadmaps to deliver fully integrated solutions.
- Architecture Governance Compliance. Ensure all end-to-end solutions comply with architecture governance, principles, and design authorities.
- Standards Definition and Enforcement. Define and champion cross-domain architectural standards, patterns, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality.
- Senior Stakeholder Engagement. Act as a trusted advisor to senior business, delivery, and technology leaders, ensuring solutions meet end-to-end business needs.
- Cross-Domain Collaboration. Lead collaboration across multiple domain architects to ensure solution coherence, performance, and operational integrity.
- Risk and Integration Management. Identify, manage, and mitigate risks related to solution integration, interdependencies, and technical debt.
- Funding and Investment Support. Provide holistic architectural input to investment cases, demonstrating how integrated solutions deliver business value.
- End-to-End Solution Leadership. Lead architecture activities on major programmes, ensuring all contributing domains align to the overall solution architecture. Maintain end-to-end solution models and documentation to support delivery, assurance, and operational handover.
- Promote Architectural and Solution Design. Champion continuous improvement in architectural and solution design practices, promoting integrated ways of working across domains and solution building blocks.
- Regulatory and Compliance Alignment. Ensure integrated solutions meet all regulatory, security, and compliance obligations across all domains.
- Industry and Market Awareness. Stay informed of external trends, technologies, and regulatory developments to shape future integrated solution strategies.
Requirements
- Telecommunication Network Architecture Expertise - Deep knowhow of IP /MPLS, SDWAN, Radio access network, 3GPP standards and Core telecom network system
- Enterprise and Solution Architecture Expertise - Deep understanding of architecture principles and frameworks (e.g. TOGAF), with the ability to design scalable, resilient, and maintainable solutions.
- Systems Integration - Proficient in integrating diverse systems using APIs, middleware, messaging, and data transformation patterns across cloud and on-premises platforms with architecture experience of integration of OSS/BSS and customer interfaces.
- Cloud and Modern Infrastructure Architecture - Skilled in solutions on public cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP), including use of containers, serverless, and hybrid cloud strategies.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Influence - Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with business leaders, delivery teams, and external partners to gain buy-in and drive outcomes.
- Business Continuity and Resilience Design - Competence in designing solutions that ensure availability, disaster recovery, and continuity of service, aligned with business-critical requirements.
- Decision-Making and Trade-off Analysis - Expertise in balancing cost, performance, technical debt, and time-to-market to make sound architectural decisions.
- Security and Compliance by Design - Knowledge of secure architecture practices and regulatory requirements, ensuring solutions protect sensitive data and meet compliance standards (e.g. GDPR, ISO 27001).
- Leadership and Mentoring - Experience leading architecture teams, guiding junior architects, and building architectural maturity across delivery functions.
- Business and Commercial Acumen - Ability to align technical solutions with business goals, understanding commercial drivers, and enabling value through architecture.
