Overview

Principal Finance Transformation Consultant (Inside IR35 Contractor) – immediate availability preferred. 2 days per week on client site (East Midlands). Expenses covered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with clients to define the business outcomes their finance function must deliver and ensure ERP and process design are aligned to these outcomes.
  • Map key stakeholders and facilitate alignment around transformation objectives, articulation of vision statements and development of robust business cases.
  • Define current and target operating models, including roles, process taxonomies, and enabling technologies.
  • Perform change impact assessments to understand implications across people, process, and technology.
  • Design future-state finance processes and roles, often aligned with Oracle Fusion Cloud’s modern best practice frameworks.
  • Support clients throughout the implementation journey, guiding them on how best to adopt new processes and technology.
  • Guide clients in shifting their finance function from being dominated by operational processing to one focused on delivering insight and strategic value—enabled by streamlined workflows and automation.
  • Write and secure agreement on change strategy and communication strategy documents to support stakeholder engagement and adoption.
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging finance technologies, including AI, RPA, and advanced analytics, and how they can be leveraged to deliver outcomes.
  • Lead change management and stakeholder engagement to ensure adoption and sustainability of new ways of working.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience leading finance teams within industry, with demonstrated expertise in one or more core areas such as Financial Control, Operational Processing (e.g., Accounts Payable), or Financial Planning and Analysis.
  • Ability to drive operational improvements and lead teams through process change, automation, and systems implementation.
  • Strong understanding of finance processes and how they contribute to both operational and strategic business outcomes.
  • Experience in delivering finance transformation programmes, either in-house or in a consulting capacity.
  • Familiarity with ERP platforms (e.g. Oracle Fusion Cloud, Oracle E Business Suite, JD Edwards, PeopleSoft or MS Dynamics) and their role in enabling finance outcomes.
  • Demonstrated capability in operating model design, stakeholder mapping, and change impact assessment.
  • Exposure to automation, AI, and data-driven decision-making in a finance context.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Qualifications

  • Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline (minimum 2:1).
  • Qualification in change management (e.g. Prosci or equivalent) is advantageous.
