Here is where you come to build a career.About The RoleLeading the delivery of technical fire engineering and safety projects in a range of high risk industries.RPS support major clients in the development of complex and bespoke fire engineering strategies where simple compliance with guidance is not always an option. This role provides the opportunity to utilise your fire engineering skillset to guide the design of high hazard buildings with a national and strategic importance.Reporting to the Technical Director - Fire Engineering Team LeadManage fire engineering projects from concept through to deliveryManage a team of fire engineers within a project to ensure satisfactory deliveryProviding Quality Assurance and peer review of the work of othersProposals and cost estimates for new workConventional fire engineering assessments/ fire safety strategiesHigh hazard fire scenario analysisDelivering fire safety strategies in a wide range of other sectors, including industrial, residential and other commercial areas.Facilitating fire hazard study workshopsPerforming fire modelling and/or interpreting resultsAssessing the hazards and risks of fire and its effectsEvaluating prevention and protective measures necessary to limit the likelihood and consequences of fireTechnically understanding the design, installation, maintenance requirements for fire detection, suppression and control philosophiesEngaging with relevant stakeholder and regulatorsTravelling to client sites throughout the UK and sometimes overseas to ensure the client needs are metDeveloping and maintaining lasting relationships and or frameworks with clientsUnderstanding the commercial impact of all decisions and recognising opportunities for business developmentLine management of more junior staff membersProven track record for the technical delivery of medium/ large fire engineering projects.Proven capability to manage other fire engineers within projects.Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Fire Engineering or other Engineering disciplineDetailed understanding/ knowledge of UK regulations and standards (e.g. Approved Document B, BS 9999, BS 9991, PD 7974, etc.)Knowledge of other regulatory regimesConfident in liaising with design teams, clients, local approving authorities, contractors, and other third parties as requiredExcellent numeracy, report writing and time management skillsHigh attention to detailExcellent customer service manner, with strong listening and interpersonal skillsWhat\'s in it for you?
