We are seeking a Senior to Principal Geoarchaeologist to join our team and help expand our business. The role involves describing and interpreting Quaternary sedimentary sequences, working with seismic data, deposit modelling, and collaborating with project teams to assess engineering impacts. Experience in UK commercial archaeology, including preparing desk-based assessments, Written Schemes of Investigations, and contributing to Environmental Impact Assessments. Project management experience is a plus but not essential.
Responsibilities
- Describe and interpret Quaternary sedimentary sequences.
- Work with seismic data and deposit modelling.
- Collaborate with project teams to assess engineering impacts.
What you’ll need (Qualifications & Skills)
- Experience: Proven experience in Geoarchaeology or Archaeology.
- Knowledge: Broad understanding of UK geoarchaeology and archaeology, including relevant legislation and planning frameworks.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in report writing, GIS applications, seismic interpretation, and deposit modelling packages.
- Flexibility: Willingness to travel across the UK for site and office visits, potentially requiring periods away from home.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Experience in consulting and negotiating with stakeholders such as Historic England or Local Government Archaeological/Heritage officers.
- Educational Background: Degree in Geoarchaeology, Physical Geography, Quaternary Science, or Archaeology.
