This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking consultancy as a Chartered / Senior / Principal Geotechnical Engineer, working on a diverse project portfolio both in the UK and internationally.
You will be employed by a growing business, and have the perfect chance for you to take ownership of meaningful projects, shape geotechnical solutions, and collaborate with civil and structural teams on high-profile commissions.
The team combines technical excellence with innovation, and you'll be joining a supportive environment where your professional development is valued. With offices in Cardiff and Bristol and a flexible hybrid working policy (three days in the office per week), you'll have the balance of office collaboration and home‑based focus.
What you’ll be doing

- Undertake geotechnical assessments and provide specialist design solutions.
- Support civil and structural disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
- Deliver standalone ground engineering commissions and contribute to pre‑planning design development.
- Prepare and review reports including Ground Investigation Reports, Geotechnical Design Reports and CD622 Feedback Reports.
- Carry out analyses including slope stability, ULS and SLS foundation assessments, settlement analysis, and earthworks specifications.
- Design cuttings and embankments (reinforced, anchored, or nailed solutions).
- Work with specialist geotechnical software (Rocscience and Geo5 preferred) and support with CAD and GIS deliverables.
What you’ll bring
- A degree in Civil Engineering or Geology, with a postgraduate qualification in a geotechnical subject.
- Chartered status (Civil Engineer or Geologist).
- Strong project management experience within design and build environments.
- Proven ability to liaise confidently with clients, manage workload, and deliver commercial success.
- Excellent technical writing, reporting and self‑checking skills.
- A strong grasp of EC7 and relevant UK design codes.
- A willingness to travel for short UK and occasional overseas assignments (UK driving licence essential).
Rewards and benefits
You’ll receive a competitive salary dependent on experience, alongside a strong benefits package and hybrid working. Beyond the financial rewards, you’ll enjoy varied and high‑impact project work, the chance to strengthen client relationships, and excellent opportunities for career progression. This role is based in either our Cardiff or Bristol offices with flexibility for hybrid working.
