SLR has an exciting opportunity for an experienced hydrologist to join our large team of water specialists delivering Environmental Impact Assessment Report chapters and Environmental Appraisals in support of renewables and electrical transmission projects.

This vacancy is for a role to join a team which are already working on a range of nationally significant projects which are and will make a tangible contribution to our journey to Net Zero.

This position presents an outstanding opportunity to join a large team of hydrologists, drainage and flood management engineers and be part of a wider group which also comprises hydrogeologists, geomorphologists and geochemists.

Working alongside the existing team, and with support from the hydrology & hydrogeology team leader, key aspects of the role will include:

The preferred location is in either Edinburgh or Glasgow, but for those with relevant experience other locations, including hybrid or remote working, would be considered. We’d welcome applications from those wishing to return to work, or who would prefer agile or part-time working.

About You:

Whilst not essential we'd like you to have formal training in hydrology. We’d expect you to have a demonstrable track record delivering water assessments in support of planning applications for wind and electrical transmission projects, and whilst not essential hydrogen, solar and substation development projects. Experience of other linear development assessments, such as pipelines, would also be welcome. We expect you to be professional and communicate effectively.

You’ll need a full current driving licence which is valid in the UK. Whilst the role will be mostly office based there will be a need for occasional site visits and attendance at client and regulatory meetings.

We’d expect you to be able to demonstrate experience of project direction, client liaison, and project management. You will also be able to work under your own initiative and as part of a team.

It would be advantageous if you have experience of mentoring and developing staff.
