About The Role

We are growing our regional maritime teams and are currently recruiting for a Principal Ports/Maritime Engineer (Design Manager/Associate) to join our maritime team in Scotland and North East England. You will provide advisory, project management, design and supervisory services to a range of private and public sector clients on port and coastal projects. There may be opportunities to contribute to projects in other regions as the maritime business grows globally.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver projects within the maritime sector and guide and develop other team members on technical aspects of projects.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, conform to quality, health & safety, and environmental management procedures, and act as a role model in their implementation.
  • Plan and manage several projects concurrently, tracking performance against baselines and working to recover schedules to meet targets for profit, deadlines, and output quality.
  • Contribute to bidding and winning work by understanding client needs, defining key selling points, and assisting with fee calculation and bid approvals in line with internal processes.

About You

As a Civil or Structural Engineer in the maritime industry, you have experience in the design of port and maritime facilities and have prepared specifications and contract documentation. You possess strong client-facing and communication skills, can lead project teams, and mentor others. You are well organized with good planning and management capabilities and can manage interfaces across technical, commercial and personal aspects.

  • Degree qualified and chartered (e.g., ICE) or equivalent.
  • Experience in contract management and leading design teams.
  • Strong client support and clear, precise communication in written and verbal form.
  • Experience with coastal structures is advantageous; development of new client relationships in ports/maritime is beneficial.
