Due to the continued growth and expansion of our Nuclear Team, we are looking to enhance our technical capabilities and are seeking an experienced Safety Case Expert to join our team. This role offers the chance to participate in multi-disciplinary projects at various stages of the lifecycle, from client consultancy to comprehensive turn-key solutions. You will have the vision, passion and track record required to support us with our continued growth of our nuclear offering. You will lead the continued development of a strong team to whom you will provide leadership and robust management. In this high-profile role, you will be the first point of direct contact with clients, partners, and contractors. You will oversee key projects from concept to delivery including design, procurement, subcontract, factory acceptance, installation, site acceptance and commissioning. This role is ideal for an experienced safety case expert, offering you the chance to work on a variety of the highest profile, short and long-term projects within the sector, and being involved and overseeing the full project cycle end-to-end.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Management: Nuclear safety case expert who will support management across the nuclear portfolio in AECOM (Civil and Defence).
- Supports the development of the strategy for growing the nuclear safety case capability in AECOM.
- Supports the development of resource strategies, recruitment plans and maintaining resource competence (SQEP).
- Supports the management of the nuclear safety case team (including deputising for the Nuclear Safety Case Discipline Lead as required).
- Technical Delivery: Acts as a subject matter expert with respect to winning work, supporting the bidding process with respect to nuclear safety.
- Responsible for strategic safety case delivery on projects.
- Develops relationships with clients to deliver a 'right first time' approach for technical delivery.
- Advises AECOM leadership teams and clients on regulatory compliance, standards and guidance.
- Supports AECOM and client organisations in interactions with regulators and safety committees.
- Applies knowledge and experience to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions to move projects forward.
- Development and Knowledge Sharing: Provides mentoring and coaching for the nuclear safety case team.
- Manages the development and delivery of nuclear safety training to internal and external stakeholders, as well as proactively contributing to multidisciplinary knowledge sharing initiatives.
- Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in approach and best practice.
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience: Extensive of developing nuclear safety cases in the nuclear sector.
- Leadership: Exceptional leadership qualities with the ability to offer strategic advice and influence other engineers in defining, implementing, and completing engineering work packages.
- Project Delivery: A track record of successful project delivery, including overseeing the full project cycle end-to-end.
- Communication: Competence in preparing and delivering technical presentations and conducting peer reviews of technical documents.
- You will also be self-motivated with an ability to work both autonomously where required, with a strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven team environment.
- Desired qualifications: MEng/BEng in Science or Engineering subject (or equivalent).
- Chartered Engineer in relevant discipline (or working towards).
